MOMpreneurs have a lot going on…I know this because I am one too! We are the ones who oversee the family calendar and our own including figuring out what to wear for each occasion. We must maximize every opportunity to squeeze it all in. There are some things that we just cannot control but there are things you can, like your closet!

Have you ever felt stressed out or overwhelmed just looking for an outfit you had in mind and cannot find it? I think it is safe to say we have all been there. An organized closet gives you peace of mind and extra time to get ready when you are running late. When your clothes are organized to fit your lifestyle, it becomes so much easier to find the right outfit for any occasion. Let’s explore 3 easy ways to organize your closet.

Color Approach Organize all your clothes by color. This will help you determine the colors you already own and avoids duplication when shopping. Color coding will inspire you to create different looks using the clothes you have. And if you feel like wearing a specific color, you know exactly where to go. Feel free to group the colors in a way that will work for you. You can start from darkest color to the lightest or vice versa.

Classification Approach Organize your closet by the type of garment you have. For example, you can group all your pants, jeans, skirts, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve blouses, dresses, and blazers together. If you feel like wearing a short sleeve top you will find that style in the group, you created. You will see all your style options by classification, saving you time when you get dressed.

Occasion Approach Organize your clothes by what you do. For example, you can gather all your work clothes, all your casual looks, workout fits and weekend or vacation outfits and group them by category. This will help you because if you have meeting coming up you can go to the work section of your closet and find the perfect outfit quickly. The same goes for when you have a brunch date you would pull from your weekend section to find what you are looking for.

An organized closet will save you time getting dressed.

I highly recommend organizing your closet in a way that fits your lifestyle best. Ask yourself, which way would make it easier for you to find what you need in a quick way. Another advantage of organizing your closet in any of these 3 ways is that you will know exactly what you have and what you need when you go shopping.
